Atlantic 75  - B776 -"Vic & Billie Whiffen"

One of the biggest differences between the old Atlantic 21 and the new 75  which we now have on station is the ballast that can now be held in the bow section. This is particularly helpful in either a heavy sea or a strong headwind and enables better handling under these conditions.

Another difference is to be found in the shape of the hull. The Atlantic 75 is 'sharper' than the shallow hull of the 21. This means the crew do not suffer so much jarring as the boat carves through the surf.

Something both boats still have in common though is the air bag mounted on the rear frame to enable self righting in the event of a capsize. The GPS system on board the 75 has been updated and has become an essential part of low visibility navigation.
