This
site was constructed with the aim of retaining Southend Lifeboat Station's
history, photographic archives & stories which might otherwise be lost with
the passage of time, it is additionally intended to provide a central
information resource for local seafarers. The original station website was designed and created by Lance Garrard a former member of the lifeboat crew. A great deal of time was spent collating, capturing and re-keying the information contained in this website and our thanks go to Lance who dedicated many hours of his time on this project and donated over 400 photos. Lance left the crew in 2002. Another great contributor to this site and many other RNLI websites around the country with his excellent photographs is Nick Leach. The reproductions on this site do not do his pictures full justice. |

As well as our website sponsors we would also like to thank the many local companies who support the Lifeboat itself by allowing certain staff to 'down tools' and respond to their emergency pagers at a moments notice. There are also those companies and individuals who often donate items or services, often without public recognition, which may be outside the remit of central RNLI funds, and make the running of Southend Station that little bit more comfortable for the Southend crew. All these actions are very much appreciated. Thank you. |
