Aquapigs Raise Funds for Boathouse

Aquapigs find treasure! Southend on sea's Aquapigs scuba diving club held a "pigs party" night at Rochford Hundred Rugby Club to raise funds for Southends RNLI lifeboat Station. Janet Pacey, senior instructor with the club and Jim Mackie, Southend lifeboat chairman donned the appropriate equipment for the underwater presentation of a cheque for £1,000.

Pier Rail Station Fire Exercise

H-004 under the Pier

Operation Foreshore was the working title for this multi-agency rescue Exercise involving the Coastguard, the RNLI Hovercraft and the Fire Service with units from as far away as Orsett and Brentwood.
Special actors with make-up were bought in to add realism to the Exercise and a smoke bomb was released in the main station to simulate some of the conditions of a real fire. The Hovercraft was used as a mobile platform to evacuate casualties that had been lowered down through the Pier platform. They were taken to an Ambulance which was waiting near the Three Shells beach. Check out our photos page of the event.
